Gimp gif two layers2/11/2024 To add a mask, create a new layer and put it on top of Layer Group #1 and I’m going to use any colored brush to paint on the parts I want to keep. I have moved my Layer Group #1 a bit to the right in this case.ħ. Here’s what it looks like if I make my top group layer a bit translucent so you guys can see how the two gifs are placed over another. Now, to make our gif prettier, we’re going to mask it so they look blended. You’re going to type, where X is your number of frames for one gif. Now, we’re gonna double click on that layer to rename it. Don’t worry, just drag it out to the top, like this:Ħ. But then, you’ll notice that the layer is made inside Now, that your sets are ready, we can finally overlay them together!ĥ. Remember not to chain the first layer group that we have already done to the second one. Do Steps 2 and 3 again for the second set of frames. Alright, now we’re gonna work on our second set of frames (the second gif). Now, that all the layers are chained/linked, go to Layers > Group > Pack Linked Layers. Click on the top layer first cuz your layer group might fly somewhere else if you have clicked some place else.ģ. So, now we’re gonna work on the chained ones first. *Sigh*, gotta unclick them one by one tho… On that same boxes to unlink the ones I don’t need for now. However, I only want to link the layers for the first gif first Seriously tho, I didn’t know about this shortcut until recently. ![]() You will see a chain running through all the layers. Okay? Now hold Shift and click on that box. Now, click on any one of your layers and hover your cursor over this box beside the “eye” icon. So here’s how my layers tab will look like (I’ve used some tag effects to sharpen my gifs so that’s why the layers are not bolded anymore but yours might still be depending on how you edited them): And do the usually cropping/sharpening/coloring/etc. You will need to use your own number of frames later on, so do remember it!Ģ. My gifs have 28 frames each for this tutorial. Make sure both “gifs” have the same number of frames. ![]() ![]() They don’t have to be in gif form for now, they can just be separate frames.
